ASEZ Volunteers Plants 21 Trees at Sleepy Hole Park

ASEZ volunteers partnered with Suffolk Parks & Recreation to plant 21 trees at Sleepy Hole Park in Suffolk, Virginia. The event supported ASEZ’s Green Carbon Movement, a global initiative focused on ecosystem restoration and long-term sustainability. In short, it was a win for the park—and for the planet.

ODU Students, Faculty, and Community Leaders Join Forces

In total, 46 volunteers participated in the tree planting event. Many were members of the ASEZ club at Old Dominion University (ODU). Additionally, ODU professor Kathleen Larkin, along with other faculty members, joined the effort.

Together, volunteers planted trees, removed invasive weeds, and collected litter. As a result, Sleepy Hole Park became cleaner, greener, and healthier. More importantly, the project showcased the ODU community’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

ASEZ also welcomed Suffolk Mayor Michael Duman, who joined the volunteers to plant trees and share his appreciation for ASEZ’s partnership with the city:

We’re happy to be a part of it. For us in the City of Suffolk, conservation is a top-of-mind subject. With our substantial growth, we always face the challenge of maintaining and protecting our environment and natural resources. ASEZ, you’ve been an instrumental part of that.”
