The Water of Life From the Spirit and the Bride
God intentionally created everything according to His plan; nothing in this world is random (Rev 4:11). By examining God’s will closely, we gain insights into how to attain salvation. Water is a vital element on Earth that sustains life – both the planet and our bodies are composed of 70% water. It seems clear that God uses water to symbolize life (Jn 4:13–14). So, where can humanity discover the spiritual water that leads to eternal life?
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ … and whoever wishes, let them take the free gift of the water of life.”
Revelation 22:17
“‘Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.’ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.”
Revelation 21:9–10
The Bible identifies the bride as the Holy City Jerusalem, a reference found in both the Old and New Testaments.
“On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem”
Zechariah 14:8
It explains that living water will flow from Jerusalem, not in a physical sense, but as the spiritual water our souls need. Only God can provide humankind with the water of life. This implies that Jerusalem isn’t the earthly city but a spiritual, heavenly Jerusalem, revealed in the Bible as God our Mother.
“But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”
Galatians 4:26
From the Old Testament to the New Testament, we can see that the source of the water of life is God the Father as well as God the Mother. In the last days, they appear as the Spirit and the Bride inviting God’s people to come and receive the water of life.
