Receiving the Savior
Recognizing God in the flesh is the pivotal factor in receiving salvation. Even 2,000 years ago, many professed belief in the Savior, yet when He appeared in human form, He became a stumbling block that caused many to fall (Ro 9:33).
“He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.”
John 1:10–13
When Christ comes, there needs to be a clear and indisputable standard for His people to recognize Him. This standard is the Bible. Only by understanding the Bible’s prophecies and their fulfillment can we recognize God.
“These are the Scriptures that testify about me.”
John 5:39
We know and believe Jesus Christ is God who came in the flesh because He fulfilled God’s promise of giving eternal life (Ps 133:3). With this conviction, Peter continued following Christ even when people turned away from Him.
“‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.’”
John 6:68–69
Similarly, all people can recognize Christ at His second coming based on the same standard: the words of eternal life found in the Bible.
